The fusion of Kyurem, Zekrom, and Reshiram is one of the central features of the global Unova Tour in Pokémon GO.

How do I obtain the black and white Kyurem?
Collecting fusion energy: You will encounter the fused forms, the black and the white Kyurem, in the raids during the GO Tour, but you can only catch the regular Kyurem at the end of the raid. Additionally, you will receive fusion energy in the raids — Volt energy for black Kyurem and Flame energy for white Kyurem. Currently, you can obtain up to 150 energies per raid — the faster you are, the more you get.
These Pokémon are required: For the black Kyurem, you need Kyurem and Zekrom, for the white, you need Kyurem and Reshiram.
What is the cost of the fusion?
- Black Kyurem requires 1,000 Volt energies, Kyurem, and Zekrom, along with 30 Kyurem candies and 30 Zekrom candies.
- White Kyurem requires 1,000 Flame energies, Kyurem, and Reshiram, as well as 30 Kyurem candies and 30 Reshiram candies.
What stats does the fusion get? Currently, the fused Kyurem takes on the stats and things like the shiny status of the Kyurem you use for the fusion. Reshiram or Zekrom are irrelevant in this regard. So use a strong Kyurem.
Special attack in the fusion – what you need to consider
Black and white Kyurem can each master a special attack.
- Black Kyurem can master Frost Volt.
- White Kyurem can master Frost Breath.

This is important: Your fused Kyurem will only receive its special attack if the Kyurem used for the fusion knows the move “Icy Wind” beforehand. You must pay attention to this. To influence it: Through the path choice for the Unova Tour, you decide which Kyurem raids will give you the attack.
Special backgrounds for Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem
All three Pokémon can have special backgrounds if you catch them in raids during the tour.
- Reshiram can have a Pokémon Black background.
- Zekrom can have a Pokémon White background.
- Kyurem can get either of the two.
If you fuse the monsters, you can receive a special background by mixing the backgrounds. For example, Reshiram with a Black background and Kyurem with a White background, or Zekrom with a White background and Kyurem with a Black background.
Caution when dissolving the fusion – New fusion is expensive!
What you need to consider: The defusion of a fused Kyurem costs nothing, but fusing it again requires all the resources you used the first time. Since this is an immense amount of fusion energy, you should avoid dissolving a fusion as much as possible.
Additionally, it currently seems that after defusion, Kyurem suddenly no longer knows “Icy Wind,” but another attack instead. This is not good either. So avoid defusion if possible.
