Now we know who will replace Rayquaza as a legendary monster in Pokémon GO: Lugia is returning as a raid boss!
Trainers, we have long pondered which legendary monster Niantic will release after Rayquaza. The developers delayed the announcement for quite some time and are now revealing which legendary boss you can battle next in Pokémon GO.
To the surprise of many players, it will not be a new Pokémon from the third generation, but the old, familiar opponent: Lugia.
Lugia with Sky Attack
You can currently find Rayquaza as a legendary opponent in Pokémon GO. Starting March 16, this monster will be replaced by Lugia, which can then be challenged in level 5 raids. We expect the changes to be made around 10:00 PM and that the new raids will be available in Pokémon GO from March 17.
Lugia is a “familiar face” for many trainers, as this monster has previously been available as a legendary boss in Pokémon GO. However, something has changed this time: the “new” Lugia can perform the “improved Sky Attack.” This is a flying attack that we previously didn’t know had been enhanced.
The community is already speculating about how this new attack will feel in the game. However, since Niantic did not clarify what exactly has changed about Sky Attack, there are currently only speculations.
You can battle Lugia in Pokémon GO until April 2, before it disappears again. It is unclear whether other legendary raid bosses that have been released before will be published afterwards.
On July 23, 2017, Lugia returned along with Articuno as a result of the GO Fest in Pokémon GO. Shortly thereafter, Zapdos and Moltres were also activated to complete the team. It is unclear whether Niantic is employing a similar tactic now.
