In Pokémon GO, there was an event over the weekend where a key component was partially missing. Affected trainers are to be compensated for this.
What kind of event was it? On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the Catching Art Event took place in Pokémon GO. You were rewarded with additional experience points for good throws when catching.
Furthermore, there was an increased shiny chance for Flapteryx, Amonitas, and Kabuto during the event. However, there were issues, leading Niantic to announce compensation for affected trainers.
Shiny Event without Shinies
What was the problem? The chance to encounter Amonitas and Kabuto in their shiny variants was not activated from the start of the event. Niantic identified and corrected this during the ongoing event.
On X, Niantic wrote the following: “Trainers, we have fixed an issue where shiny Amonitas and shiny Kabuto had no increased chance of appearing during the Catching Art Event. We will provide more information for affected trainers shortly.”
Which trainers were affected by the problem? It is not known which trainers were specifically affected. Niantic has not provided further details regarding the issue.
However, since the post on X was made on March 16, 2025, around 5:00 AM, it can be assumed that trainers in Germany were not affected. After all, the event started here at 10:00 AM, so the error by Niantic should have already been resolved by then.
What does the compensation look like? It is still unclear what exact compensation the affected trainers will receive. Just recently, a similar case occurred where research progress was not counted, and trainers were then compensated.
