A worldwide outbreak of Shiny Pikachu? These were initially only seen in Japan, but now Pokémon GO trainers are already finding them in other locations. Presumably even in Germany.
Since August 9, 2017, trainers in Japan (Yokohama) have been able to celebrate the Pikachu Outbreak event. There were special Shiny forms of Pikachu in eggs and in the wild. As the only Shiny form previously in the game was Magikarp, these Pikachu were very popular.
Today, August 15, 2017, the Pikachu Outbreak in Japan has ended and, according to initial information, the yellow Electric monsters are now being released to the whole world. One has already been caught in Canada.
Catching Shiny Pikachu
A trainer from Canada caught a Shiny Pikachu today, confirming that they can also be caught outside of Japan. The monster was found shortly after the Pikachu event in Japan ended. The community currently assumes that these rare Pikachu variants are now available worldwide.
Anyone looking to find one must pay close attention. The color differences are slight – the Shiny appears slightly darker than the normal Pikachu. You can recognize whether it is a Shiny by looking for a star in the background after the Pokémon is caught.
So anyone with a Pikachu nest nearby should make their way there. With a bit of luck, you will soon have a Shiny variant of the monster in your collection.
Update: A Shiny Pikachu has also appeared in Sweden. This suggests a global release!
Is Shiny Pichu now coming from eggs?
Now that Shiny Pikachu can be found in other locations, trainers are wondering if other features will also be widely released. For example, there were also Shiny Pichu from 2km eggs at the Pikachu event.
It is quite possible that this feature will also be adopted and spread. However, there is currently no official information from Niantic. Until Niantic provides any official information, we will have to wait and see.
