A change in Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO has been discussed for a while. Now, dataminers have found further hints about what trainers can expect.
What is this find? The find consists of data discovered by the “Pokeminers” for an upcoming update.
The PokeMiners have found various assets related to Mega Evolution. Image files that could be used in connection with the “new” Mega Evolution.
However, these are not official information from Niantic, which means this data can be changed or removed at any time in the game.
Legendary Mega Raids and More Found
What the find contains: The assets were shared on the Pokémon GO subreddit “TheSilphRoad” and show some exciting content. Among other things, the “Mega Legendary Egg” quickly catches the eye: it seems to become a new raid tier that players can challenge.
This also aligns with a previous find that hinted at legendary Mega Pokémon.
Furthermore, additional points are included, such as a new background referred to as “Mega Tutorial.” This could mean there will be a small introductory course on the “new” Mega Evolution when it arrives in the game.
Additionally, there are further hints that Mega Evolutions could also be performed after a certain cooldown once they have been initially unlocked. This also corresponds with a previous find regarding Mega Evolutions.
What the community says: In the Pokémon GO subreddit, the potential overhaul of Mega Evolutions has already attracted a lot of attention, and trainers are still eager:
- “This is very interesting. I think you still have to unlock high Mega Energy, and then you have a choice to use energy or have a cooldown of a week or so for the next Mega Evolution,” user Stanton5 speculates (via reddit).
- “Will Mega Evolutions finally no longer be ‘rent-a-Pokémon’?” asks user “Jack0017” (via reddit) – as there has been much criticism of the current Mega system.
As of today, every time you need to invest Mega Energy to unlock a Mega Pokémon, which then only stays for a limited time. It’s possible that a variant may be introduced which is “free” to use.
Additionally, there is a graphic about attack boosts. It clarifies that attacks of the same type as the Mega Pokémon will still be particularly boosted, but attacks of other types can also be boosted – albeit not as much.
Furthermore, there are also hints about “routes.” What this entails is still completely open. Back in 2019, an item related to routes was found but it has not made its way into the game to this day. It’s possible that a new feature is on the horizon.
However, as of now, these remain only datamines which do not necessarily have to come into the game in this form. We will have to wait for official information to be released.
Official information has meanwhile been released about the new game from the creators of Pokémon GO. In “Peridot,” you will collect and breed little pets.
