In Pokémon GO there is finally the long-demanded transparency regarding hatching Pokémon. Some trainers can now see how rare monsters are in the eggs.
This is new: Some trainers can now see which Pokémon are inside the eggs and how rare they are. This way, the egg pool is at least not just a matter of luck, but gives you at least a rough overview.
Thus, the wish of many trainers who called for more transparency regarding the eggs has been fulfilled.
How the egg transparency works
Who can use the new feature? Only some trainers are affected by this. The selection seems to have been made randomly. You can see if you are affected when you collect a new egg. If you get the Pokémon overview there, then you are one of the lucky testers.
What trainers are showing: On reddit, affected players give an overview of the adjustment. When they now collect an egg, they get this overview:
This is how the new overview works: At the top of the list, you will find the Pokémon that appear particularly frequently in the eggs. At the bottom of the list are the monsters that are quite rare.
In general, you have an overview of all the monsters that are inside the eggs. Keep in mind that the list may vary slightly depending on the region. This is due to the regional Pokémon.
This is how the new feature is received: Overall, the general sentiment is positive. However, it is often only referred to as “a step in the right direction.” After all, the overview does not show exact probabilities. While it is known that Milza is the rarest in the 10-kilometer eggs, it is not known how rare it actually is.
It became really controversial in the summer of 2020. There, Niantic introduced Shiny Kapuno and mainly included it in event eggs. The chance of getting the Pokémon was incredibly low, causing some players to spend dozens of euros without getting even a normal Kapuno in the end.
Since the Kapuno incident, the outcry for more transparency has grown louder. There has been a call for Niantic to finally reveal which Pokémon are inside the eggs and how rare they are. Now, the community’s wish has at least been partially considered.
