Recently, there were already some hints that Mega Rayquaza will appear soon. Now it is official: The new version of the monster will be unlocked at the GO Fest.
When will Mega Rayquaza appear? There are four dates when Mega Rayquaza will appear this summer.
- The local GO Fest in London
- The GO Fest in Osaka
- An additional GO Fest in New York City
- And the most exciting release: The global Pokémon GO Fest. Mega Rayquaza is scheduled to appear on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
For visitors of the three live events, Rayquaza will appear in the host cities. However, Mega Energy and the evolution item “Meteorite” are only available if you’ve purchased a ticket for the respective GO Fest on-site.
If you don’t have a ticket for these events, the global GO Fest is the moment when you can obtain Mega Rayquaza.
How Mega Rayquaza works in Pokémon GO
This is how you evolve Mega Rayquaza: To trigger the Mega evolution of Rayquaza, you need to teach it the charge move “Zenith Storm”, which is based on the main games.
However, this can’t be done just like that, you need a new evolution item: a “Meteorite”. You’ll receive this by completing field research tasks at GO Fest 2023.
This is what makes Mega Rayquaza so powerful: Rayquaza is already among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. With the Mega evolution, its stats are significantly boosted, dealing much more damage.
But that’s not all: Similar to Proto-Groudon and -Kyogre, Mega Rayquaza provides strong bonuses in raid battles. Your teammates generally deal more damage when Mega Rayquaza is in play. Additionally, attacks of the following types are further boosted:
- Flying
- Psychic
- Dragon
This will make some of the best raid attackers even more dangerous, especially when considering Mewtwo or powerful dragon Pokémon. Additionally, you’ll earn extra candies, XL candies, and XP when catching monsters of these types while having Mega Rayquaza active.
