In Pokémon GO the ball shortage is finally being addressed! Niantic has introduced numerous changes to make it easier for you to obtain balls from home.
This is the issue: Due to the Corona crisis, people are currently advised to stay at home. Niantic has therefore adjusted their game and made it easier to play from home. However, those who do this diligently will quickly run out of balls.
For days, players wished to be able to obtain balls more easily and Niantic has now responded. They are implementing several measures to obtain Poké Balls from home.
How Niantic is now solving the ball problem
The changes are: There are several steps that Niantic has introduced:
- Every week there is a box for 1 Poké Coin in the shop. This box should always contain different items, but this week there are 100 Poké Balls
- You can open 30 gifts each day to obtain more balls
- You can carry 20 gifts at a time so you can also provide other players with balls
- Gifts include more Poké Balls than usual
Is there finally enough balls? 100 Poké Balls are available for free this week. In addition, there are balls from gifts. Those who use them sparingly and do not catch every Pokémon should be able to manage with this.
Especially the gifts are likely to be the biggest ball supplier. There are gifts that even include over 10 Poké Balls. If one opens 30 of those, one can easily get to 300 balls per day. Even “worse” gifts still yield 5 balls. You will quickly obtain the coveted resource.
What other adjustments are there? Niantic also provides you with other bonuses. For the first catch of the day, you receive triple XP and Stardust. Therefore, you should try to catch at least one Pokémon each day so that you receive heaps of XP and Stardust on the 7th consecutive day.
Additionally, there have been some adjustments made to PvP battles. You can now challenge Good Friends and Great Friends to a battle without having to be right next to each other. Previously, this was only possible with Ultra Friends.

Keep in mind that there is currently a risk of infecting yourself and others with the coronavirus. The Federal Centre for Health Education recommends staying at home as much as possible, keeping your distance from others, and avoiding gatherings. Niantic has taken various measures to allow you toplay Pokémon GO from home.
