In Pokémon GO, the field research tasks and their rewards have changed right on schedule with the start of the new month. We have taken a look at what you can find in September 2021 and show you which quests are most worth your while.
What tasks are involved? By spinning PokéStops, you receive daily field research tasks, which are shown to you in the “Field” view. With the change of the month, Niantic often alters the quests and their rewards.
All field research tasks in September 2021
As in other months, you will find tasks in the field research of September from various areas. Whether it’s catching, special throwing skills, combat skills, or interacting with your buddy – there’s something for every trainer.
With the overview from Leekduck, we have summarized the field researches from August for you (via leekduck.com). To give you a better overview, we have categorized the quests into different categories. Pokémon marked with (*) can also be encountered in their shiny forms with a bit of luck.
Catching-related field researches
In the catching category, as the name suggests, you should catch certain types or amounts of monsters. These tasks are generally easy to complete. However, this is also reflected in the rewards, which are rather unimpressive.
Dratini continues to be one of the most interesting monsters in this category. It can be evolved into Dragonite, which is among the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. Kramurx and Rattfratz have been newly added as rewards in September in this category. Anyone still looking for a shiny can snag one with little effort and a bit of luck.

Throwing-related field researches
These tasks revolve around throwing and the associated throwing skills. Particularly interesting is the encounter with Pandir with pattern 8. This monster can currently only be obtained by completing this quest.
Another interesting reward is Larvitar. It can evolve into Tyranitar, which is among the best Rock-type attackers. Additionally, it is also available in its shiny form. Another strong monster is Kaumalat, which was featured during June’s Community Day. Anyone who missed that day now has the chance to get one through this quest.

Fighting-related field researches
The fighting category revolves around participating in raids or the GO Battle League. In September, there is a very special Pokémon hidden here that you should not miss: Flunkifer. This Steel- and Fairy-type monster cannot be caught in the wild and could previously only be obtained in raids or through Team GO Rocket.
Additionally, it is also available in its shiny form in the game. Therefore, it is worthwhile to take on this task in September for several reasons. To complete it, you only need to win a raid. A simple option here is the weekly raid hour. It’s best to gather 3 of these tasks so you can complete them all with one raid.

Field research breakthrough in September 2021
Alongside the field research tasks, the research breakthrough often changes with the start of the new month. You receive this if you have completed one of the field research tasks on 7 days, earning a stamp each time. Once you have collected 7 stamps, the research breakthrough is unlocked for you.
In September, you will encounter the Pokémon Ditto there. This Pokémon can transform into other monsters and therefore hides in the wild behind them. For the first time, Ditto can now be found in its shiny form outside of special research in the game. You recognize it, as shown in the previous image, by its blue color.
