In Pokémon GO there are new field research tasks to complete for March 2021. MeinMMO shows you all the quests here and reveals which tasks are particularly worthwhile.
What’s new: March has started, and in Pokémon GO there are new field research tasks. You will find quests at PokéStops in the game that were not available before or other Pokémon are included as rewards.
The focus of the new quests is not on special Pokémon, yet there are several monsters that are worth catching.
All Field Research Tasks in March 2021
Here are the details: Diligent trainers in the Subreddit of TheSilphRoad have gathered and compiled all the quests. This list was created based on that.
Keep in mind that individual events in March might bring additional field research tasks to the game. We haven’t listed them here, but you will find them in the respective articles about the event.
Quests with Throws
- Land 5 great curveball throws in a row
- Reward: Encounter with a Pandir #8*
- Land 5 good throws
- Reward: Encounter with a Voltobal*
- Land 3 great throws
- Reward: Encounter with a Nebulak*, Anorith* or Liliep*
- Land 3 great throws in a row
- Reward: Encounter with an Onix*
- Land 3 fabulous throws in a row
- Reward: Encounter with a Kaumalat*
In March, the Pandir form #8 is waiting for you. Always take the quest with you, as it is rare and Pandir is one of the rarest Shinys in the game.
The task with Voltobal is also recommended. The Pokémon appears extremely rarely outside of events in the game and is easy to obtain through the quest.
Additionally, you should take the quest with the 3 fabulous throws. It’s a bit tricky, but it rewards you with Kaumalat, which is a very rare Pokémon and can also be Shiny.
All Pokémon marked with an * can appear as Shiny.
Quests with Catching
- Use 5 berries while catching Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Hubelupf
- Catch a Dragon-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Dratini*
- Catch 5 Pokémon with weather boost
- Reward: Encounter with a Quapsel* or Vulpix*
- Catch 10 Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Karpador*
- Catch 5 Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Ledyba*
- Catch 10 Bug-type Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with a Yanma*
The task “Catch 5 Pokémon” is quick and possibly rewards you with Shiny Ledyba, which has been quite rare so far. So you should take advantage of the opportunity.
Quests with Battles
- Win a raid
- Reward: Encounter with a Larvitar*
- Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket Grunts
- Reward: Encounter with a Blanas
- Win 5 raids
- Reward: Encounter with an Aerodactyl*
- Win a level 3 raid or higher
- Reward: Encounter with a Kabuto* or Amonitas*
- Win in the GO Battle League
- Reward: Encounter with a Quiekel
Some quests related to battles have not been available since the Corona period.
You should take the quests related to Larvitar. The evolution Tyranitar is one of the best attackers in the game and is definitely worth it.

The quest related to the snapshot and Frizelbliz is worthwhile. The Pokémon is quite rare in its Shiny form, and taking a snapshot is quick. So you should make use of it.
What you should know about the Pandir form: This month, Pandir #8 is available to catch. You can also obtain it as Shiny. If you don’t have this Pandir yet, you should look for the quest.
How long will these quests be available? Normally, developer Niantic changes the field research tasks at the beginning of each month. Therefore, new field research tasks should be available on April 1st at 10:00 PM German time. However, this is not confirmed.
Research Breakthrough in March 2021
What’s in the research breakthrough? In March 2021, you will receive a Kaumalat as a breakthrough. You will be able to catch this rare dragon Pokémon until April 1st.
