The field research for Pokémon GO in July focuses on Kanto Pokémon. The research breakthrough brings Snorlax with special moves.
Field research of the Kanto region: Collectors of Kanto monsters can look forward to the month of July. Through the quests, you will encounter Pokémon like Ditto more frequently.
Major breakthrough: As a reward for a field research breakthrough in July, there is a chance for Snorlax with the Bodyslam move.
Quests in July
When will the new quests arrive? In the announcement in Pokémon GO, the developers reveal that there will be a new set of quests starting from July 1 at 1:00 PM PDT (which is 10:00 PM German time).
Theme of the quests: The focus of the new tasks will be on Kanto Pokémon. If you complete the tasks, you can encounter monsters like Pikachu, Eevee, or even Ditto.
Joy for the Mew hunters: In the special research for Mew, there is the task to catch a Ditto. With this Ditto list for Pokémon GO, trainers may know which monsters Ditto can hide behind, but encounters are still rare. Many trainers are stuck on this task, and Niantic knows this and helps with these new field quests to complete it.
Snorlax with Legacy Move: For a research breakthrough, you will receive a Snorlax that knows the Bodyslam move. This is special, as Bodyslam is considered a legacy move. This means that Snorlax was once able to learn this attack. However, Snorlax cannot learn this strong attack anymore. The exception is the research breakthrough in July.
Disappointed trainers: Because the Bodyslam move has become so rare, trainers saved many of their Snorlax months ago in case a trading feature comes to Pokémon GO. After all, they have Pokémon with moves that no longer exist. Something very rare indeed.
These trainers are now quite disappointed, as the trading feature is in the game and suddenly the rare Snorlax moves are returning. The value of their old Snorlax will decrease because now in July, everyone can receive a Snorlax with Bodyslam.
On the other hand, many trainers are happy that they can now add such special Snorlax to their collection.
Not only Legendary Pokémon: So far, the community assumed that field research breakthroughs could only yield Legendary Pokémon. But Snorlax shows that Pokémon with rare movesets can also be included.
