At the GO Fest 2022, organized by Pokémon GO this weekend, there were supposed to be high chances for Shinys. But many trainers are disappointed. Are you too? Show it to us in the survey.
What is the problem? On June 4 and 5, 2022, the big GO Fest 2022 took place. Niantic had been advertising and announcing it weeks in advance to show the trainers what they could expect with the ticket for an almost 17 € price.
A compelling reason to buy for many players was the increased chance of shiny Pokémon (Shinys). Niantic had shown exactly which Pokémon might be encountered more frequently in the wild if one had a ticket. Collectors could therefore determine whether participating would be worthwhile for them. But during the event, there was hardly any sign of the increased Shiny chances. Trainers are upset.

“Ridiculous” – Trainers express their clear thoughts on Shiny chances and demand compensation
This is how Niantic announced it: On the official GO Fest 2022 website, it is stated, “During the event period, there is an increased chance of encountering shiny Pokémon in the wild and when using incense. On Saturday, this chance is higher than on Sunday.” However, this bonus is reserved only for trainers with a ticket.
For players without a ticket, it says “For the first time, you can encounter shiny Milza, Knilz, Camaub, Laukaps, and Schnuthelm in Pokémon GO, if luck is on your side!”
Niantic did not name specific Pokémon for which the chances of shiny encounters should be increased. Instead, they indicated which Pokémon ticket holders should encounter more frequently with incense and which ones they could catch as shiny.
Combined with the suggestion that there would be a higher chance of Shinys from Pokémon attracted by incense, many assumed higher Shiny chances from the displayed Pokémon.
These included Galar-Smogmog, Icognito B, G, O and U, Klikk, Milza, and Galar-Flampion.
This is how it really was: On the first day of the GO Fest, June 4, many trainers complained about the Shiny chances. Here with us on MeinMMO in the comments, on reddit, Twitter, and Facebook, the anger of many players who drew their conclusions after day 1 was evident.
This is what trainers say after day 1:
- Aro-wanKenobi (with ticket) writes on reddit “I completed day 1 here in Japan. Only four Shinys after eight full hours of relentless catching and running in the summer heat. The worst GO Fest I have ever attended. Plus, there were several glitches with spawns that may have cost me some Shinys.”
- Erroneus writes on reddit: 0 in 4 hours. I stopped playing. This is the first event where I do this, but it’s just a waste of time. A friend was with me, also caught 0 Shinys. Another friend 1, another 3.” They played in Denmark, all with tickets. “I won’t pay for any further events if they don’t announce the Shiny chances. Because that’s terrible.
- On our platform, MeinMMO Angelika writes: “Two people, two Shinys. We feel cheated. ‘Buy tickets, there are more and new Shinys’ was a blatant lie.”
- On our platform, MeinMMO caitokid writes: “I could play all day since we were out in the nice weather in Düsseldorf and Wuppertal (9€ ticket) :-). But I only caught 3 Shinys and didn’t see a single Milza as shiny. I did catch several.”

- Mandy writes: “2 with a ticket in 8 hours”
- Julian says: “7 with a ticket. I’m really disappointed”
- Mike writes: “1 Shiny. The worst event so far. I usually had a good yield. Many Pokémon disappeared when clicking on them.”
