The new Pokémon GO tracker is not particularly well-received by fans. Fans are now presenting their improved version and are asking for feedback.
After the new tracking system for Pokémon GO was first tested in San Francisco and other parts of the USA, it is now also available in Germany. Although trainers waited a long time for a new tracker, they are not satisfied with this version. One easily loses track in the Near Me display or only sees Pokémon from a single PokéStop. A fan of the game has now presented a concept for a new tracking system that received a lot of positive feedback on Reddit.
Improved Tracker for Pokémon GO
On Reddit, the user Malkuno now presents the new concept for the tracker and asks how other trainers find his changes.
- He has placed the “Near Me” and “Sightings” tabs side by side. By swiping or clicking, one can switch between the different categories.
- In “Sightings,” a specific PokéStop is displayed once again. If you click on this stop, the window expands and shows up to 9 different Pokémon that are at this PokéStop.
- Additionally, the names of the two trackers have been swapped to make more sense. Near Me is thus in your area
Pokémon GO: Tracker is supposed to be clear, informative, and server-friendly
For these changes, Malkuno received a lot of praise on Reddit. Some players do not understand how Niantic fails to come up with such simple ideas to improve the tracker.
The matter is quite complicated from the developers’ perspective: Niantic is seeking a compromise between clarity, sufficient information, and low server load.
The “first” tracker that many long for today apparently caused issues and led to frequent crashes. New versions of the tracker are criticized for not providing enough information to trainers. And Niantic seems to fear that such “dual trackers”, like the proposed solution, might overwhelm casual players.
In the patch notes for various updates of Pokémon GO, developers repeatedly state that player feedback is especially important to them.
Too few PokéStops – The new tracker is not well-received by players in rural areas.
