The news: This summer, important events are coming up for trainers in Pokémon GO. Recently, Niantic announced that worldwide catching will take place again. This happened back in 2017. As the developers showed, trainers will be rewarded with more XP and Stardust for successful participation.
Here Niantic leaves room for speculation: In a graphic with visualized rewards, there is also an “Ultra Bonus”. However, it is not explained what it is about. But fans already have one or two theories about what it could be.
Celebi as special research in Pokémon GO?
Worldwide research projects: This summer, you can participate in global research projects. This will happen during the Safari Zone on June 30 and July 1, and also during the GO Fest on July 14 and 15. Later, there will be a Safari Zone in Yokosuka, where worldwide catching will also take place.

The Ultra Bonus: In the infographic about the events, there is also the point “Ultra Bonus”. It is unclear what it entails. Trainers suspect new special research or regional surprises.
Trainers believe Niantic is hiding Celebi
On Reddit, speculation is running high. Trainer PowerlinxJetfire writes “Ultra Bonus = Maybe Celebi?” Many other trainers agree with this assumption and give the comment upvotes. Trainer cb325 writes “I believe in it. The unlocking of the Celebi quest line for all trainers.”
Who or what is Celebi? Celebi is a mysterious Pokémon. It is of the Psychic and Grass types and has existed since Generation 2.
Already appeared in the code: Celebi was discovered in the code of Pokémon GO in November 2017, along with Ho-Oh, by data miner Chrales in the code of Pokémon GO.
Now trainers suspect that Celebi will become a reward for special research in Pokémon GO after the Ultra Bonus is unlocked following the summer events.
Further speculation: Regigigas or regional Pokémon
Not everyone believes in the release of special quests for Celebi. Another assumption comes from trainer Anura17. They write: The three individual bonuses are Regice, Regirock, and Registeel. If all three are unlocked, then Regigigas would finally appear.

New regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO?
The worldwide catching in 2017 rewarded trainers globally with spawns of Snorlax.
Trainers believe that this could repeat in 2018 with other regional Pokémon.
Nothing is certain yet. Niantic has not yet commented on the Ultra Bonus and the individual unlockings. So this remains speculation for now.
