In Pokémon GO there is now a new way to evolve Pokémon. If you traded certain monsters beforehand, you can now evolve them for free.
What is new now? If you trade certain Pokémon before evolving, they will be free to evolve after the trade. You do not have to spend any candies to evolve your Pokémon.
In addition to this new feature, there are also 17 new Pokémon from Gen 5 in the game.
However, only some Pokémon are affected. We will show you the overview and tell you which Pokémon you should definitely evolve.
These Pokémon can now be evolved for free
Here it works thanks to trading: 8 Pokémon from the 1st and 5th generation are affected:
- Kadabra
- Maschok
- Georock
- Alpollo
- Sedimantur
- Strepoli
- Laukaps
- Schnuthelm

Is this feature worth it? This function is great! Especially the new Pokémon can be completed faster. For example, you only need 50 candies to evolve from Praktibalk to Meistagrif. Without this feature, it would be 250 candies.
You save an incredible amount of candies that you can then invest in strengthening the Pokémon.
With some luck, your monster will also become a lucky Pokémon during the trade. The probability of this is not too low.
Which Pokémon should you use the feature on? It is worth it for every Pokémon in principle. However, many players should have enough candies for monsters from Gen 1, such as Machollo or Abra.
So it is especially worthwhile with the new Pokémon from Gen 5. Particularly strong are Brockoloss and Meistagriff. They are among the best attackers in the game. You should trade every Praktibalk and Kiesling to later evolve them into their final forms for free.
