The current event in Pokémon GO is distributing a lot of Pokémon, allowing you to save on candy costs when evolving.
What is evolution by trading? The name says it all: There are different Pokémon that can evolve by being traded. These monsters usually cost a lot of candy if you want to evolve them – but after trading, they don’t cost any.
The problem: If you trade away the Pokémon you want to evolve, you won’t end up getting the evolution, but your trading partner will.
So try to coordinate with friends who also want to do a trade evolution. That way, both of you will benefit.
The “Cuddly Buddy” event is currently running, where many Pokémon are available that evolve through trading. We will show you which ones.
These Pokémon are worth evolving by trading right now
In the wild: You can easily find the following Pokémon while walking.
- Abra: Its evolution Kadabra can be evolved into Alakazam for free after a trade.
- Geodude: Its evolution Geodude will evolve into Golem for free after trading.
- Alolan Geodude: The same applies for the Alolan variant of Geodude to Golem.
- Swablu: Evolves into Altaria after trading. Otherwise, the evolution costs 200 candy.
- Shuckle: Evolves for free into Crustle after trading, without needing to invest 200 candy.
- Stunfisk: Evolves for free into Boulanger while this evolution normally costs 200 candy.
Of course, you can also evolve the Pokémon without trading. It will just be candy-intensive.
