What is known? We know for sure that Pokémon GO will start a Halloween Event in 2021. Niantic has officially confirmed this. Below, we present the information that has already been confirmed:
- When does the event take place? The Halloween Event 2021 starts in Pokémon GO on Friday, October 15. It will be active for more than two weeks and ends, fittingly for the end of the month, on Sunday, October 31.
- Spawns in the wild: It is known that costumed Pokémon will appear in the wild. Which costumes they will wear and which Pokémon have been selected to wear the costumes is still unclear.
- Special research: The developers will provide all participating players with a new special research. While the rewards are not yet known, it is clear that the research is “all in the spirit of Halloween.”
In the latest blog post, it is stated that more details about the event should follow soon (via nianticlabs.com). However, data miners have already provided more information about the event content.
What do leaks show? Data miners have thoroughly searched the code of Pokémon GO and found exciting changes for the Halloween Event.
In the mentioned special research, Professor Willow talks to the trainers about a discovery in the forest. He would have come across an unusual tree while researching and then discovered that it was a Trombork. The Pokémon was surrounded by small Paragoni. These two new Pokémon will probably make their debut at the Halloween Event:
How did Halloween go in recent years?
- In 2020, there were candy bonuses, Gengar and Zobiris in costumes, the debut of Galar-Makabaja, Kryppuk (also as Shiny), Darkrai raids, research, and more.
- In 2019, Makabaja returned to the game, first Darkrai raids appeared, candy bonuses, a special research, and new crypto Pokémon.
- In 2018, there were candy bonuses, the first special research with Kryppuk, and the first Giratina raids.
- In 2017, Zobiris, Banette, and other ghost Pokémon from the Hoenn region appeared for the first time, along with Pikachu in costumes, candy bonuses, and a Mimigma hat for trainers.
- In 2016, there were candy bonuses, and ghost Pokémon from the 1st generation appeared more frequently.
Based on this history, one can assume that Niantic will also unlock a candy bonus for Halloween in 2021.
