In Pokémon GO, you can currently encounter the Ultra Beasts Kaguron and Katagami. We at MeinMMO show you where to find each monster, how strong they are, and whether you have a chance at a Shiny.
Which monsters are involved? On September 13, 2022, there was a major raid boss rotation in Pokémon GO, which is why you can now encounter the Ultra Beasts Kaguron or Katagami in level 5 raids in certain parts of the world.
What kind of monsters they are, where you can find which raid boss, and how strong they actually are are summarized for you below.
Here are our counters guides to the new Ultra Beasts:
What kind of Pokémon are Kaguron and Katagami?
Kaguron: Kaguron is an Ultra Beast from the 7th generation of games. It is a Flying and Steel Pokémon and has no pre-evolutions or further evolutions. You can recognize the monster by its distinctive appearance. The Ultra Beast has a thin, white body surrounded by a metallic gray-green coat.

Katagami: Just like Kaguron, Katagami is also an Ultra Beast from the 7th generation of games. The Grass and Steel Pokémon also has no other evolutionary stages. You can recognize the small monster by its white body adorned with yellow and orange decorations, resembling a folded origami.

The Ultra Beasts are mysterious Pokémon from another dimension. They can switch to the world of Pokémon GO using wormholes known as Ultra Wormholes. Besides Kaguron and Katagami, there have been four other Ultra Beasts catchable in the game: Anego, Schabelle, Masskito, and Voltriant.
How strong are Kaguron and Katagami?
Kaguron: The Ultra Beast Kaguron particularly shines with good stamina. Its defense and attack are solid. It has the following stats:
- Attack: 207
- Defense: 199
- Stamina: 219
Its moveset is somewhat limited for the Flying and Steel Pokémon. With its two Steel Charge Attacks, Iron Head and Ramsch, it has two relatively fast charge moves, but it lacks a Steel quick move.
Similarly for the Flying type. Here it can benefit from the quick move Air Slash, but has no suitable charge move. For this reason, it is rather uninteresting for raids and the GO Battle League.
Katagami: In contrast to Kaguron, Katagami scores with a high attack value. Its defense and stamina are solid as well. Its stats are as follows:
- Attack: 323
- Defense: 182
- Stamina: 139
Furthermore, its attacks utilize a good moveset with Leaf Blade and Leaf Tornado, which deals significant damage to the opponent. Thus, Katagami can rank among the 10 best Grass attackers in Pokémon. In the GO Battle League, however, it is less interesting.
We have summarized an overview of the best attackers of all types in the following video:
Are there shiny versions of Kaguron and Katagami?
No, so far both Ultra Beasts have not yet been found in their shiny form in the game. Thus, you still cannot encounter any Shiny after the raid. However, once they make their debuts in Pokémon GO, you will definitely hear it from us at MeinMMO.
Where to find Kaguron and Katagami?
Unlike most other raid bosses in Pokémon GO, Kaguron and Katagami cannot be found equally in all parts of the world. Where each of the monsters spawns and what you need to pay attention to is summarized for you below.
How to get Katagami: The search for Katagami is quite easy for players in the northern hemisphere, which includes Germany. Here, the Pokémon spawns everywhere in level 5 raids.
To defeat it, you only need to find an appropriate raid. Since there is also a corresponding raid hour with Katagami in this region on September 14 and September 21, you shouldn’t have any problems encountering the Ultra Beast.
Trainers in the southern hemisphere have less luck, so you should invite your friends to these raids, so they also have the chance to get a Katagami.
How to get Kaguron: Just like Katagami, Kaguron is also only regionally available. It spawns alongside Katagami in the level 5 raids of the southern hemisphere. Here in Germany, you cannot easily encounter the raid boss.
To secure an example, you can ask friends to invite you and participate in remote raids. Alternatively, apps like PokéGenie or PokéRaids can also help, where you can be invited to these raids as well.
How to find friends in Pokémon GO is summarized for you below:
How long are Kaguron and Katagami in the raids? Both Ultra Beasts will be available in their respective regions in level 5 raids until September 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time.
