In Pokémon GO you can expect the “Lunar New Year” event in the coming days, which brings you plenty of spawns, shinys, and especially strong bonuses. We have summarized what these will be here on MeinMMO.
What event is it about? In Pokémon GO, the annual Lunar New Year event is coming up in the next few days. This event appropriately incorporates the color red based on its Asian counterpart, which is why you will primarily find monsters of this color during the event.
Therefore, fire Pokémon also play a significant role, which is why it is not surprising that Flampion is the symbol of this year’s event in the game. In addition to plenty of spawns, you can also expect many shinys and strong bonuses. We have summarized which these are and how trainers feel about it below.
When does the Lunar New Year run? The “Lunar New Year” event starts on January 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until January 23 at 8:00 PM local time.

Opinions of trainers about the Lunar New Year
In the reddit community, the first reactions to the event and the early announcement of its contents are quite positive. Although one or another trainer may have wished for more bonuses or a few different shinys, many players are satisfied with the outlook on the event contents. In the comments, one can read the following (via reddit.com):
- Krispyboiz: “Damn, it seems to be a decent event, but I had hoped that an event focusing on Flampion would bring us Zen-Mode-Flampivian, even if it’s just the one from Einall.”
- roherlihy: “They have announced the details of the last events well in advance, which is very much appreciated, and I hope this continues.”
- Orlykid2: “Paras and Wadribie in quests! 750 dust with triple dust for Community Day is huge.”
- GhostHarvester: “Well, this truly is an event. Totally overwhelmed. But what does Regice have to do with all of this?”
And with such a reaction, the Lunar New Year is not the first event of this year. The content of the current “Sparkling Fantasy” event and the Community Day in February with eF-eM have also been well received by trainers so far.
How do you like the contents of the Lunar New Year event? What monsters were you hoping for in this context? And what bonuses do you definitely want to utilize? Feel free to let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and discuss with other trainers.
