Niantic confirms that Abyss Plate and Abyss Fang are the new Gen-3 evolution items in Pokémon GO. This monster evolves with them.
Among the new Pokémon of Generation 3 in Pokémon GO, there are special specimens. These special monsters evolve using evolution items.
The Abyss Plate and Abyss Fang were initially found only in a listing of in-game items. Now Niantic officially confirms the items.
Evolution Stones for Gen 3 – Abyss Plate and Abyss Fang
On Pokémon GO’s support webpage, the team officially confirms that Abyss Plate and Abyss Fang are the new evolution stones in Pokémon GO. Alongside the usual items like Sun Stone, King’s Rock, Metal Coat, Up-Grade, and Dragon Scale, they are now listed in the game’s help overview. Thus, there are now a total of seven items instead of five that assist in the evolution of monsters.
As usual, you can obtain these new items in the future by spinning PokéStops. So far, there are no signs of how likely it is to receive these Abyss items as rewards. It is also unclear when they will be activated.
With the Abyss Plate or Abyss Fang, you can evolve Perlulin into Aalabyss or Saganabyss.
With this Pokémon, you must walk a minimum distance
In addition to the new items, we also find information on Pokémon GO’s support webpage that trainers must walk a certain distance with some Pokémon to evolve them.
As an example, the team mentions the Pokémon Barschwa. With this fish, you need to walk a few kilometers as a buddy before it can evolve into Milotic.
According to PokémonGOHub, Barschwa is currently the only Pokémon with such a distance requirement. This is set in the code at 20 kilometers. Additionally, 100 candies are required for the evolution.
Which other monsters will have a minimum distance for evolution is still unclear.
