Currently, the Johto event is ongoing in Pokémon GO. Niantic has now confirmed on which day the event ends and the bonuses will disappear.
Niantic announced days ago that the arrival of Celebi will bring additional interesting bonuses. New field research projects and more frequent spawns of Pokémon from the Johto region are currently active. In the German announcement, Niantic did not mention when the event ends. Upon inquiry, the team revealed that this event will remain active until August 28.
Johto Event – When does it end?
Officially confirmed: Niantic made an announcement about the end of the Johto event on some Pokémon GO websites, like the Japanese one. There, the event is said to end in the early hours of August 29. In Germany, this is several hours earlier.
End of the event: The Johto event ends in Germany on Tuesday, August 28, at 10:00 PM. Niantic confirmed this to TheSilphRoad.
What bonuses are available during the event
Since the Johto event has been active since Monday evening, August 20, you may have already noticed some bonuses.
- Spawns in the wild: You will encounter more monsters from the Johto region in the wild.
- New Shinys: The shiny forms of Tannza, Sonnkern, and Natu can now be found in the game.
- New bosses: New raid bosses are roaming in the arenas worldwide. The starters of the 2nd generation, as well as Sonnkern and Yanma, can be found in level-1 raids in Pokémon GO. In this overview, we show you which arena bosses are also active in Pokémon GO.
- Celebi quests: Now, there are also new special research tasks in Pokémon GO that reward you with an encounter with the mystical Pokémon Celebi.
