The data mining of the new Pokémon GO update 0.61.0 shows that the developers have made significant progress with the redeemable codes.

During the data mining of the 0.61.0 APK, the experts from PokémonGOHub found that the feature for the redeemable codes is finalized and could be activated.
Redeem codes for coins
References to promo codes in Pokémon GO were first found during the data mining of the 0.59.1 APK of the game. It turned out that players cannot receive monsters or eggs through these codes, but insteaditems, avatar clothing, candies, stardust, or PokéCoins.
With patch 0.61.0, it has now been shown that the developers have made significant progress. The redeemable codes have been tested and are ready to be released. In the in-game shop, players will soon be able to redeem the codes after the feature has been released. So far, this feature has not yet been released. There are at least two different types of promo codes in Pokémon GO.
The experts found details in the code that show that the feature is complete and ready for activation – possibly for an upcoming event.
For this function, the data miners did not find any new graphic elements. This suggests that the button will be created from existing UI elements and no further updates on the smartphones are needed to utilize the function. Therefore, the developers could unlock the promo codes at any time, and trainers could use them immediately.

The messages in these categories can also have a specific status:

- Immediate
It is expected that this feature will be released alongside the redeemable codes. Here, Niantic could inform you about upcoming events and remind you that certain codes will expire soon if not redeemed. According to PokémonGOHub, this feature does not yet look “complete”, but it is an important point in the code.
