Trainers can hardly wait for Niantic to officially announce whether there will be an Easter event in Pokémon GO and what rewards it has in store for us. Today, a potential leak surfaced announcing such an Easter event. It is supposed to start tomorrow and increase the chance of rare Pokémon from eggs!
Pokémon GO Easter Event 2017 – Easter Special
A leak has reached the Pokémon GO community announcing an Easter event that is supposed to start tomorrow, Thursday, April 13th. The article on PokémonGOHub states that they have received information about the upcoming Easter event and are currently verifying the sources. In the past, this source has proven to be reliable when they published accurate leaks for the release date of Generation 2 and the Water Festival.
The leak on PokémonGOHub states:
- An event with double experience points starts tomorrow, April 13th, and will be active for 7 days.
- Increased chances of getting rare Pokémon as loot from eggs. This includes Snorlax, Lapras, Porygon, and Miltank.
Drop rates for specific eggs were unfortunately not mentioned. Additionally, the leak does not mention any potential discounts on incubators in the shop, which some trainers have speculated about in recent days.
The same information that PokémonGOHub received regarding this leak apparently also reached a Spanish Pokémon account called “Team Eevolution“. They also mention double experience points and the increased hatch rate of rare Pokémon. A (translated) excerpt from the tweet:
- “Tomorrow a double XP event will start, which will be active for one week. There will also be better results from eggs. This means: More chances for rare Pokémon like Lapras or Snorlax to hatch more frequently.”

We want to emphasize again that this is a leak that has not been officially confirmed. Niantic has not yet commented on an Easter event 2017.
Of course, we would be excited about an event like this, but we should not take this news as reliable, but rather consider it as a possibility. If the event starts tomorrow in this form, you should keep in mind that only new eggs that you received after the start of the event are eligible for the bonuses.
