For Earth Day, Pokémon GO is organizing a large garbage collection event. If enough players collect trash, there will be a cool in-game event. Niantic has now provided an overview of the participant numbers.
What is the current status? Niantic has posted on Twitter that so far 5000 players have participated in the Earth Day collection event. However, 7000 players are needed for all bonuses to be unlocked.
Is Shiny Groudon in danger? If 7000 players have collected trash, then Groudon will appear in raids. And Groudon will then have the chance to appear as a Shiny Pokémon. For players, this would be a good opportunity to catch Shiny Groudon.
So far, the conditions for this reward have not been met.
There are less than 2 days remaining until April 28, when this action ends. If 7000 participants are not active by then, there will be no Groudon raids as a reward.
The event for Earth Day scales with the garbage collection of the players. The more players collect, the greater the rewards in the event.
What are the bonuses for Earth Day?
What bonuses are guaranteed? The positive news is that the 5000 players who have already collected trash have unlocked Shiny Diglett for all of us as soon as the event starts. Additionally, there will be more Ground-type Pokémon in the wild during the event.
What bonuses are still missing? In addition to Groudon raids, there are two more bonuses that will only be unlocked with 7000 participants: Double Stardust and double candy for all event Pokémon.
How can I participate? If you would like to support the action, you can register on the website of Niantic and either start a new action or join an already created action.
When does the Ground event start? The cleanup action ends on April 28. One day later, on April 29, the Ground event with the corresponding bonuses will start. A specific time has not yet been announced.
The event will then last only 4 days and ends on May 2. There is also no exact time for this yet.
In May and June, there will be new research breakthroughs with 4 possible Shinies:
