In Pokémon GO on Tuesday begins the Dragon’s Descent event, an event focused on Dragon Pokémon. Additionally, there will be research with Professor Willow regarding Shardrago. We will show you what we know about the Pokémon and the event.
What kind of event is this? During the presentation of the events for December 2021, the developers mentioned a new Dragon event. As we now know, the event brings a completely new Pokémon to Pokémon GO.

Dragon Event in December – What is happening?
When does it start? The Dragon’s Descent event starts on Tuesday, December 7th. It will be active until Sunday, December 12th.
What are the bonuses? The event is inspired by the legendary Dragon’s Descent in the Unova region. Presumably, some Pokémon from the Unova region will play a role in the event.
It is certain that the Pokémon Shardrago will be available for the first time in Pokémon GO. This was confirmed by the official Pokémon website (via Pokemon.com). It also states that Professor Willow is involved and will present you with some tasks related to the Pokémon:
On December 7, 2021 at the “Dragon’s Descent” event, there will be another Pokémon GO debut when Professor Willow spots the Dragon Pokémon Shardrago and thus takes on some important research tasks.
Who is Shardrago?
Where does it come from? Shardrago is a Dragon type Pokémon and comes from the fifth generation of games, specifically from the Unova region.
Does it have evolutions? No, Shardrago has no pre-evolution and no evolution.
What does it look like? Shardrago stands on two legs, has a blue/turquoise body with a beige belly, and a red head with spikes. Its shiny form, however, is green with a yellow/orange head and spikes and a gray belly.
What attacks does it have? According to current knowledge, Shardrago will be able to learn the following attacks in Pokémon GO:
- Fast Attack: Dragon Tail
- Fast Attack: Bite
- Charge Attack: Dragon Claw
- Charge Attack: Night Slash
- Charge Attack: Hyper Beam
What are the catch chances? Generally, Shardrago should reach the usual catch rate of 20%.
How far do you walk as a buddy? To earn candies, you need to walk 5 kilometers with Shardrago as your buddy.
