The new update for Pokémon GO was released a few hours ago. In the patch notes for patch 0.47.1, there were no hints about the news that has now been revealed by data miners. According to TheSilphRoad, there are graphics, sounds, and other changes for Ditto, which means Ditto could soon be seen in the game. Additionally, the words “Shiny” and “Rare” have now been found in the code. Therefore, colored “shiny” Pokémon could soon appear in the game.
When will Ditto come to Pokémon GO?
New code regarding Ditto suggests that this Pokémon could soon be available in the game. Here are the changes found in the latest version of Pokémon GO:
- It seems that Ditto has been classified as a “wild Pokémon.” Whether this feature has already been activated is unclear. It is also uncertain whether Ditto appears as “Ditto” before being caught, or if you’d catch a Taubsi that reveals itself as Ditto after being caught.
- It is almost certain that Ditto is “catchable.” Unlike “only obtainable through non-wild encounters.”
- Ditto is likely usable in battles.
- Various sounds for Ditto effects have appeared (not yet audible).
- A background graphic for Ditto in dark purple is available.
- A small “spotlight” graphic for Ditto is in the game, which can be used, for example, for display on the map.
According to TheSilphRoad, the latest update gives the impression that all important interactions with Ditto are now present in the game. It is possible that Ditto is already in the game. However, there are no reliable reports yet, only speculations.
It will be “Shiny” in Pokémon GO
During the data mining of the new update, the words “Shiny” and “Rare” were found for the first time. In this context, there is a new sound that plays when you catch a rare Pokémon.
Additionally, there are now material differences between “Standard” and “Shiny” for various Pokémon. The developers use the term “Material” to describe how surfaces look, reflect light, or are colored. If shiny material is indeed implemented in Pokémon GO, then we could see more color variations among different Pokémon in the future.
So far, however, there are no new graphics for the Pokédex, sightings, or the Near Me function. Without these graphics, it is difficult to say whether the shiny function is truly intended for various Pokémon, or what this term means in the code.
