In Pokémon Go, the first Dittos are being caught since last night.
For months, the Pokémon Ditto could not be caught. It simply was not in the game, but that has changed since today. Apparently, with the “Thanksgiving Event”, some changes have been introduced to Pokémon GO that were not officially announced beforehand. Since shortly after midnight in our time, more and more trainers are reporting: I caught Ditto!
How to catch Ditto in Pokémon GO? By catching other Pokémon!
Initial reports suggest that Ditto is actually something special. Trainers battle against another Pokémon and finally catch it. Then it turns out to be Ditto – it had just disguised itself. Currently, trainers assume that any Pokémon can turn out to be a disguised Ditto. This encourages players who are hunting for Ditto to catch every Pokémon – even seemingly “useless” ones.
Seemingly any Pokemon can now transform into Ditto. In battle, it is adopting the species/moves of the foe – and boosting to similar CP!

Further reports indicate that Ditto can transform into the defender in gym battles.
Ditto’s introduction is completely surprising: Hidden changes in patch 0.47.1 had already hinted that Ditto would be coming into the game. Perhaps the “Shinies” aren’t far off either? “Shinies” are cosmetically different variants of Pokémon, which data miners also discovered in the code of the patch where Ditto was hidden.
