In Pokémon GO there is currently a collaboration with The North Face x Gucci that can bring your avatar free stylish clothing. However, obtaining them is likely to be difficult at the moment.
What is this collaboration about? Both The North Face and Gucci are fashion brands that have joined forces for a collection. This is now finding its way virtually to Pokémon GO: According to the blog post, players can secure themed T-shirts, hats, and backpacks for their avatars. This was hinted at back in December:
How do you get the clothing? Here lies the crux. The items are not currently available in the in-game shop for all players, but only at selected locations. According to the announcement, there are over 100 PokéStops worldwide in Gucci pop-up stores where trainers can pick up the items. However, this is likely to be difficult here at home.
At which locations are the clothes available?
Here are the items available: According to the official announcement from Niantic, the items are available in Germany at the stores in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich. That would only be three large cities in Germany, and only at very specific locations. However, these three cities are only mentioned in the English version of the Niantic blog post, while they are completely missing in the German translation (via Niantic).
The blog offers a link to find the next pin nearby where the items are supposed to be available (via Gucci.com). When looking here on the interactive map with the active filter for The North Face x Gucci, only the store in Berlin at Kurfürstendamm is displayed.
It is still not entirely clear where the items will ultimately be available. As soon as there is more information, we will keep you updated. The best chances are likely at the location in Berlin.
Otherwise, the items are only available at select locations, such as stores in Milan, Paris, Madrid, London, and Moscow. However, the situation overall is not easy: “As always, be aware of your surroundings when playing Pokémon GO, and follow the regulations of health authorities,” writes the Pokémon GO team in the announcement. Given the current lockdown situation in Germany, it is not really advisable to travel to one of the stores to collect the items.
Keep in mind that there is currently a risk of infecting yourself and others with the coronavirus. The Federal Center for Health Education recommends staying home as much as possible, keeping your distance from others, and avoiding crowds.
Overall, it is likely to be difficult for most players to obtain the free items currently. Those looking for content that can be easily managed from home (or during small tours nearby) can immerse themselves in the current field research. Here you can find all the research worth doing in January.
