In Pokémon GO, trainers report issues such as “Login failed”. There are problems during the login process. The connection is apparently due to Google servers, which are partially down.
What’s going on? On December 14th around 1:00 PM, the first trainers reported issues with logging into Pokémon GO. The login would fail, and they could not enter the game due to an outage.
Update at 2:50 PM: By now, logins should be working again. Google services are mostly back up. Some trainers report that they can play again.
At the same time, reports are coming in worldwide that many Google services are not functioning properly or at all. Known issues include:
- An outage at YouTube
- An outage at services like Google Mail, Google Docs, etc.
- Issues with services like Pokémon GO that use Google for login
Pokémon GO down? Trainers can’t get in
What players say: On reddit, Twitter, and other social media, players report that they are having trouble logging into Pokémon GO.
Many are apparently using their Google account for login. Because Google services are currently so poorly reachable, problems arise during the login to Pokémon GO.
A reddit post received over 74 comments within 24 minutes. There, players explain that they can no longer enter the game. The problem affects large areas. Trainers from various countries comment on reddit that they cannot get into the game.
What can you do about it? If you’ve linked your trainer account with a Facebook account, you can log in through that. Currently, this method seems to still work. As long as Google struggles with the issues, you should be able to get back into the game this way.
Another alternative is the Pokémon Trainer Club, which allows you to log into the game.
How long the problems at Google will last is unclear. We will keep you updated and revise the article whenever we learn something new.
Do you also log in to Pokémon GO with your Google account? Then feel free to share your experiences in the comments here on MeinMMO.
