In Pokémon GO you can now complete the special research “Rediscover Kanto.” We will show you all the tasks, steps, and rewards it offers.
What kind of research is this? In Pokémon GO, the new update went live, allowing you to pick up an improved graphic and encounter Kanto monsters in different biomes. With it, the research “Rediscover Kanto” was introduced.

More Kanto bonuses: The event “Rediscover Kanto” brings bonuses alongside the research.
- More XP for the seven-day streak at PokéStops and catches
- Friendship levels increase faster when opening gifts, trading, or battling together
- You have an increased shiny chance for Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in the biomes
- Community Day moves when evolving to Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise
- Mega energies for the three in field research
The Kanto monsters are the Pokémon from the first generation. So classics like Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, and the other monsters from the Red, Blue, and Yellow editions.
Some of them can now be found in the game again, including through the new research. Since some players could start the research earlier due to the time zone difference, the tasks are already known (via reddit / LeekDuck). We summarize the tasks and rewards for you here.
