In Pokémon GO as of April 10, the Rocket Balloons have been disabled. They caused a critical bug in the game. When they will return is currently unclear.
What happened? On Friday, April 9, the first complaints appeared on reddit regarding Pokémon GO that there were issues in the game when the balloons were clicked. These complaints increased in the following hours.
Niantic reacted to this and completely took the Rocket Balloons offline on April 10.
A related tweet mentioned that a bug related to battles was discovered and that these are temporarily unavailable.
The exact time when encounters will be reactivated is currently not known. We at MeinMMO will update the article accordingly when that happens.
The game froze at the start of battles
What exactly was the problem? Players reported that Pokémon GO froze when an encounter with Team GO Rocket was started (via reddit):
- It seemed to not matter whether one used iOS or Android
- Users tried reinstalling, which also did not help
However, there was reportedly a workaround with the leaders of Team GO Rocket. This does not matter anymore due to the deactivation.
Things you should do in April
What you can do while waiting for the Rocket Balloons: Today, on April 11, the Community Day runs from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There you can secure the Pokémon Serpifeu. In this context, there is the ticket “Serpifeu in the sunshine” for only one Euro. What exactly is included in this ticket, we will tell you here.
Additionally, there are currently 7 field research tasks you should definitely complete.
What else is coming this month? The month is still full of events in Pokémon GO. Starting April 13, you can secure the Therian form of Thundurus, which you should definitely do. After all, it will be among the best Ground attackers.
