When does Deoxys defense form appear? The mysterious Pokémon Deoxys returns on July 1, 2021, starting at 8:00 PM in tier-5 raids. It will remain there until July 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM, when it will be replaced by Mewtwo.
What kind of Pokémon is that? The mysterious Pokémon Deoxys has several forms that can be caught in Pokémon GO.
- Normal form
- Attack form
- Speed form
- and defense form
The latter is characterized by a particularly high defensive value and is the Pokémon you will face in raids. The other forms are currently not available.

The best counters against Deoxys defense form
These counters are worth it against Deoxys: The defense form of Deoxys belongs to the Psychic-type Pokémon and is weak against Ghost, Dark, and Bug types.
If you can rely on Mega Pokémon, Mega Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball or Mega Houndoom with Howl and Giga Drain are good options.
Otherwise, use the following counters against Deoxys:
- Shadow Mewtwo with Psycho Cut + Shadow Ball
- Shadow Snibunna with Howl + Giga Drain
- Shadow Tyranitar with Bite + Crunch
- Darkrai with Howl + Shadow Ball

How many trainers are needed for Deoxys defense form? The defense form is very strong defensively. You need at least three trainers under ideal conditions to beat it – likely more.
Can it be Shiny? The Shiny variant is not yet available for the defense form.
What is the use of Deoxys defense form? In PvE, Deoxys doesn’t bring much. The defense form has no particularly high attack value and is therefore not usable as an arena or raid attacker. It is also not usable as a defender in gyms as it belongs to the mysterious Pokémon.
In PvP, however, Deoxys is very useful, especially in its defense form thanks to its strong defensive values. So if you’re looking for a good Pokémon for the battle league, you might consider Deoxys.
