In Pokémon GO there are first hints on how raiding from home might work. Data miners found a new type of raid pass in the code.
What was known about raiding from home: A few days ago, Niantic announced that you could already soon raid from home. It was not clearly defined how this is supposed to work, as they wanted to consider several options at that time.
Now, data miners give us a first glimpse into raiding from home. A modified raid pass has been found that is supposed to be suitable for this purpose.
How raiding from home is supposed to work
This raid pass has been found: This item is called “Remote Raid Pass”. It is supposed to be used when the trainer is outside the gym radius.
The pass is supposed to be purchasable in the shop, similar to the regular raid pass. However, you can only carry a limited number of remote raid passes at the same time.
This is how a raid from a distance is supposed to work: If you use such a raid pass, your Pokémon will deal less damage. So you will need more players from a distance to complete raids.
There is a limited number of remote players in the raid, in ratio to players standing in front of the gym. However, it is not yet known how exactly this number looks like.
What is still unknown: So far, it is not known how far you can be from a gym. Currently, it looks like you have to at least see the gym in order to be able to raid it.
However, it may also be possible that you do not need to see the gym at all. The question then remains how you can choose to participate in a raid. All trainers who do not live within the vicinity of a gym would have to go out to participate in raids, should it actually only be possible to raid gyms that you can see.
Has anything else been found? Data miners have also discovered hints for two upcoming events. The Community Day with Abra is likely to take place on April 25. Whether it will be a Community Day as we know it remains questionable.
Data miners have found information about a special research related to Abra. It may be that this research will be the main focus so that everyone can play from home.
There is also data about a GO Battle Day with Marill. Marill is expected to appear as a reward in the PvP league. However, there are no exact details and a date for this yet. We will have to wait. However, this could be a kind of replacement for the limited researches that took place in February with Picochilla.
