Cupidos debuts on February 14 in the top raids of Pokémon GO. Is it worth catching? All information about the event.
What kind of Pokémon is this? Cupidos is a legendary Pokémon, categorized among the “forces of nature” like Boreos, Voltolos, and Demeteros. It has a spirit form and an incarnate form. This incarnate form is now appearing in Pokémon GO.
How to get Cupidos? The Pokémon will appear as part of the “Carnival of Love” on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, in Pokémon GO. But it won’t be easy to obtain, as it will only appear in top raids and only at specific times.
You can encounter it at the following times:
- Between 12:00 and 13:00
- Between 13:00 and 14:00
- Between 17:00 and 18:00
- Between 18:00 and 19:00
Note: A top raid boss can reportedly only be challenged for 30 minutes once it has hatched. However, in other time zones where players have already been able to play, trainers are reporting 45 minutes. It remains to be seen how it will be here. The eggs will appear 24 hours before the start at the respective gyms, so you can plan your raid as soon as you find a corresponding top raid egg.
Why will this be difficult? Top raids are among the toughest challenges in Pokémon GO. They can only be challenged on-site, so remote raids are not an option. Additionally, they require many trainers to defeat the boss.
Is the top raid against Cupidos worth it?
How to defeat Cupidos? The monster belongs to the Fairy and Flying types, making it susceptible to attacks of the Poison, Rock, Electric, Ice, and Steel types. You should therefore have corresponding counters ready. It may also be worth using party play bonuses to use more powerful charged attacks.
Additionally, don’t plan with too few trainers: Experience from past top raids shows that you should plan with at least four, preferably more trainers.
A list of the best counters against Cupidos can be found here.
Is Cupidos worth it? No matter how challenging the raid may be and how inconvenient the timing might be for some: If you find the time and a potentially sufficiently large group for the raid, the fight can be worthwhile.
Because Cupidos is expected to be one of the best Fairy attackers in Pokémon GO, which is useful against dragons in raids, for example. Additionally, it is likely to find a place in PvP to be an effective fighter. Initial stats and moves for Cupidos have already been shared by trainers (via reddit).
Apart from the strength of the monster, the raid can also be worthwhile for collectors since it’s unclear when Cupidos will return. Lastly, after defeating Cupidos in the top raid, you will also receive 30 minutes of additional Fairy and Flying spawns around the gym. This includes, among others:
- Piepi
- Pummeluff
- Snubbull
- Schwalbini
- Fleknoil
- Emolga
- Geronimatz
- Dartiri
- Parfi
- Flauschling
