Just a few hours after the second release of Zorua in Pokémon GO, Niantic has to hit the emergency brake again. This time, the Pokémon remains in the game, but you cannot connect your GO Plus and other Bluetooth devices for now.
Why can’t you connect GO Plus? Niantic had to disable Bluetooth devices like the Pokéball Plus and the GO Plus. They caused issues when trying to catch Zorua.
This is now the second huge problem associated with the new “Ditto-Pokémon” Zorua. During the first planned release, the Pokémon was deactivated again after just a few hours. Since October 28, you can catch Zorua in Pokémon GO and shortly after, trainers noticed a crazy bug.
Giratina in the Super League – GO Plus and Poké Ball deactivated
This is the bug: Shortly after the release of Zorua, trainers caught many of the new Pokémon and shared their catches excitedly with the community. However, it quickly became apparent that something was wrong with the second release of Zorua.
Players caught Legendary Pokémon with the GO Plus and other auto-catchers that connect via Bluetooth. That’s typically not a problem. However, they did not transform back to Zorua as planned, but remained in their “disguised” form.
If you caught with a Bluetooth device, Zorua remained in the transformation and did not turn back into Zorua. This resulted in Pokémon like Giratina with very low CP. Thus, it became possible to duplicate Legendary Pokémon and also Mythical Pokémon and use them in PvP tournaments with 500 or 1,500 CP. Even in the Super League. This shouldn’t be possible at all, to catch certain legendary Pokémon with such low CP that they fit the Super League limit.

Moreover, there are further bugs such as caught Zorua not landing with their full hit points in the trainers’ collection.
Additionally, Giratina does not transform for some trainers as Buddy Pokémon and remains in its original form.

Niantic had to intervene a second time
This is how Niantic reacts: The second release of Zorua was supposed to go differently:
- On October 28 at 10:06 PM, Niantic support wrote (via Twitter): “Trainers, we are happy to announce that the previously reported issues have been resolved and Zorua will now appear in the wild worldwide. We would like to thank you all for your patience.”
- At 01:04 AM on October 29, just about three hours later, the next update clarified that there were again issues.
01:04 AM: Trainers, we are temporarily disabling Bluetooth devices like the Pokéball Plus and Pokémon GO Plus as we investigate an issue with Zorua. We will provide an update as soon as this functionality is restored.
01:12 AM: Please note that every Zorua that pretends to be your Buddy and has not transformed after being caught will transform back into Zorua in the future. Thank you for your understanding.
01:34 AM: The following Pokémon are temporarily unavailable in the Super League: Giratina, Yveltal, Dialga, Palkia, Thundurus, Kyogre, Groudon, Darkrai, Xerneas.

This is how the chaos surrounding the release of Zorua unfolds. Trainers already know tricks on how they can keep the falsely caught Pokémon that did not transform. They send them to the Pokémon HOME system. They hope that the Pokémon will not transform back in there.
