In Pokémon GO there is a return in the Crypto Raids: Articuno is back and can be challenged in battles. However, trainers are dissatisfied with the boss.
What is happening in Pokémon GO? Recently, Pokémon trainers encountered Articuno in the Crypto Raids again. The legendary ice bird had already been the Crypto boss for several months and was later replaced by monsters like Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia – all of which were available for a shorter time than Articuno.
Now, Articuno suddenly returned to the Crypto Raids without trainers expecting it. Shortly thereafter, a discussion on the subreddit “TheSilphRoad” about Pokémon GO started, where some speculated that the Articuno return was a mistake.
However, that is not the case, as Niantic support has now confirmed. On “X,” the official channel stated: “Trainers, we would like to clarify that Crypto-Articuno is currently available in five-star Crypto Raids until November 30.”
This puts to rest the discussion of whether it might be replaced quickly again. But some trainers are annoyed by the choice.
Crypto-Articuno is back, trainers are asking: “But why?”
This is what trainers are saying: In the subreddit for Pokémon GO, there is already a discussion about the clarification.
Some trainers express their dissatisfaction with the fact that Articuno is now the boss again, even though it was already available for so long. Here are some examples.
- So User Koolmike writes: “But why? Literally every other option would have made everyone happier” (via reddit).
- “Articuno was available for three months, Moltres for about three weeks. No idea why Niantic thinks people want more Articuno. Moltres would have been much more welcome,” says c422 (via reddit).
- “Why are we getting so much Crypto-Articuno? Crypto-Zapdos and Moltres were so short, I hope they bring them back too,” says User Pro_Banana (via reddit).
Furthermore, there is criticism that there was no clearer announcement beforehand, and it was only clarified now what the Crypto Raid plan for the upcoming weekends would be.
Is Crypto-Articuno strong? Crypto-Articuno is more of a Pokémon for collectors than for fighters, as there are some better options in the raids when looking at ice Pokémon. For comparison: Crypto-Moltres is among the best fire and flying attackers, while Crypto-Zapdos is one of the best electric attackers.
