In Pokémon GO, on September 20, the Community Day with Porygon is taking place. We show you information about start time, bonuses, and the exclusive move.
What is a Community Day? This event takes place every month in Pokémon GO and highlights a specific Pokémon. You can find the featured Pokémon in abundance for several hours, and a special bonus rounds off the event.
In September, the featured Pokémon is Porygon. It won the vote in August by a landslide and will debut as a Shiny.
All information about the Community Day in September – Start time and bonuses
When? On Sunday, September 20, 2020 – from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
Event Pokémon: Porygon
Exclusive move: Triplette (for Porygon-Z)
Bonus: Bonus: Incense lasts for 3 hours
Bonus: You can evolve Porygon2 up to two hours after the event so that Porygon-Z learns the move Triplette
Since the Corona crisis, you can now experience the Community Day for 6 hours. You can plan your time well and play when it’s most convenient for you.
What’s available in the shop: As usual, you can buy a box in the shop during the Community Day. Today it contains a Premium Fast TM, 3x Incense, 6x Lucky Eggs, and 30 Ultra Balls.
Additionally, a new special research will be available in the shop. For €0.99, you can grab the research “Decoding Porygon.” It will also contain some useful items.
How to make the most of the event
Catch as many Pokémon as possible: During the Community Day, the focus is always on catching Pokémon. Not only does this yield triple XP during the event, which you can use for leveling up, but you also earn some Stardust for each catch, which is needed for leveling Pokémon.
It’s definitely worth igniting Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs during the event. The spawns are increased, and you can gather resources well.
Make sure to use the catching trick, as this will allow you to catch Pokémon even faster.
Gather enough items beforehand: Starting the Community Day without balls could end badly. So make sure to gather enough balls beforehand so that you can catch without any issues during the event.
When the Community Day starts, you should activate several items at once. You can stack items now, allowing you to activate as many items as you want right at the beginning of the event, so you don’t have to reapply Lucky Eggs, Incense, or Star Pieces every 30 minutes.
Shiny Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z
These are the Shinies: For the first time, you can obtain the Shiny versions of the 3 Pokémon. In the wild, only Porygon is available. Its 2 evolutions can only be obtained through evolution.
The Shinies are easily distinguishable, as the two colors of Porygon have essentially switched places:
How rare is a Shiny Porygon? During the Community Days, the Shiny rate for Porygon is increased. It is usually 1 in 25. So you don’t have to click as many specimens to get the new Shiny.
Porygon-Z with Triplette – What does the move do?
What does Triplette do? Ultimately, the move is not very useful. Porygon is a Normal type and that alone makes it significantly worse in raids compared to Pokémon of effective types. Additionally, Triplette as a Normal move is ineffective against any Pokémon in the game.
While it is somewhat powerful, compared to moves that are effective against a Pokémon, Triplette fares much worse.
Even in PvP, Triplette is not particularly good. It’s a minor improvement for Porygon-Z, but the Pokémon hasn’t played any role in PvP up until now. This won’t change with Triplette.
Instead, you should check out the best attackers of each type. There you’ll find Pokémon that are consistently strong and offer powerful moves.
