The Community Day with Abra in Pokémon GO now has an official start date. The event is set to take place later this month, which was canceled in March due to Corona.
When does the Community Day take place? On April 25, the Community Day will last a full 6 hours. On that Saturday, Abra will be in the spotlight and can be caught as Shiny for the first time.
Also, the exclusive move for Alakazam is known, and you will receive triple Stardust throughout the event.

These are the event bonuses: To give you a clear overview of what will happen during the event, here we summarize:
- Abra will also appear as Shiny for the first time and will be the center of the event
- There will be triple Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Bait lasts for 3 hours
These adjustments are being made: The event seems specifically designed to be played perfectly from home. The item “Bait” will last for 3 hours instead of the Lures, as is usually the case during Community Days.
Data miners have already found a Special Research that can be purchased for €0.99. It is also supposed to revolve around Abra.
Why was the date postponed? Originally, the Community Day was supposed to take place in March. The Corona crisis disrupted everything and the event was postponed indefinitely. Now the rescheduling has been announced.
Alakazam learns Counter – What can the move do?
This is the exclusive move: According to Niantic, Alakazam will learn the fighting move “Counter” at the event. This is a fast move.
What can Alakazam do with Counter? This move is not particularly advantageous for raids. Alakazam is a classic Psychic attacker. A fast move of Fighting type doesn’t bring much.
For PvP battles, it might provide Alakazam with a bit of variety. However, Alakazam doesn’t hold up well in battles and is therefore not really suitable for the PvP league. Other Pokémon dominate the tier lists there.
Is the move worth it? If you’re not collecting exclusive moves, you can do without this move. An Alakazam with a Psychic moveset is definitely better and more useful in raids.
