The Community Day on Saturday in Pokémon GO was a great success. Niantic also made some changes that were well received by many players.
The Community Day in February was all about the Pokémon Quiekel. In addition to Quiekel, players also received triple Stardust, which drew many players outdoors. There, players noticed a change.
While many event Pokémon were previously found, the spawn rate on this day was even higher. There were significantly more Quiekel to catch than event Pokémon during past Community Days. Accordingly, many players also reported higher shiny yields.
This is how the Community Day went in February
Players were excited: Never before had so many event Pokémon been roaming around as on this Community Day. On Reddit, many players celebrated this event.
So “ClearestBlueArticuno” writes about the event: “Yes, I found an unbelievable number of Quiekel. My entire nearby list was full of them! It was a great Community Day.”
Another player writes: “I was in a park that is currently an Eevee nest and I didn’t see a single Eevee. I also didn’t see any pink spawns. It seems like they replaced event and nest spawns with CD spawns, just like they should have done from the start. Well done, Niantic!”
This is behind the changes: Players repeatedly complained about past Community Days that while the event Pokémon was increased, it was still not found everywhere. This disturbed many trainers.
Niantic responded to this criticism and noticeably increased the spawn rate. As a result, there are also more shinies for the players. If more possible shinies are caught, then overall, more dazzling Pokémon will appear.
Was this intentional? Whether this step was indeed deliberate or just a mistake remains to be seen. The feedback on this change is definitely amazing. Niantic would anger many players again if they were to reduce the spawns now.
We will probably have to wait until the Community Day in March to find out if this change was indeed intended. There is still no exact date for this event.
