The Community Day in March revolves around the plant starter Geckarbor! Surprisingly, Pokémon GO is changing the event times. We’ll tell you everything about the date, bonuses, and the shiny form.
The Community Day in March brings Geckarbor, the first starter Pokémon of the 3rd generation. This Community Day will again offer reductions on egg hatching distance. For the first time, the event period has been changed. You can no longer hunt for shinies starting from 11 AM.
Community Day March 2019 – Bonuses and Date
When does the Community Day in March start? On Saturday, March 23rd, you have 3 hours as usual to take advantage of the event. This time, the Community Day will run from 3 PM to 6 PM.
This time frame is the same for every player in the world. Time zones no longer matter here; the Community Day starts at 3 PM in every country.
What are the bonuses?
- The distance to hatch eggs will be reduced to a quarter
- Lures last for 3 hours instead of 30 minutes
- Geckarbor will appear more frequently in the wild

What move can Gewaldro learn then? On each Community Day, there will be a special move that can only be learned on that day. It is still unknown what move that will be.
If Niantic stays true to their pattern with moves for plant starters, then Gewaldro could learn Flora Statue. This move was also learnable by Bisaflor and Meganie before.
How to obtain the move: The special event move can only be learned by evolving.
To master this move, it must be evolved during the event period. However, you will have an extra hour after the event to do so. After that, it will not be able to learn this move anymore.
Shiny Geckarbor, Reptain and Gewaldro
It is not confirmed yet, but it is highly likely that the shiny form of Geckarbor will be available to catch. This has been the case for every Community Day so far. The shiny form of Geckarbor is easy to recognize, as it has a red tail.

In March, you can already belong to another team:
