In Pokémon GO the content for the Community Day in January has been announced. We at MeinMMO have looked at which creature will be the focus of this event and will tell you what else to expect.
What kind of event is this? Every month there is a Community Day in Pokémon GO. On this day, a specific Pokémon is in focus, which spawns more frequently in the wild for the duration of the event. Your chances of encountering a shiny version are also increased on this day.
Furthermore, you will receive one or another special bonus on this day. As Niantic has now announced via the Pokémon GO blog, the Community Day in January will revolve around the Ice and Water Pokémon Seemops (via pokemongolive.com).
When is the Community Day? The Community Day will take place on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time.
Community Day in January 2022 with Seemops
Seemops is a Pokémon of the Ice and Water types. It comes from Generation 3 and can evolve from Seejong to Walraisa. Of course, you can encounter plenty of Seemops during the Community Day.
They will be found everywhere, and with the help of incense and lures, you can attract more of these creatures. Additionally, your chances of encountering a shiny version are quite good on this day, as the shiny rate will also be increased during the event.
Seemops has only recently been available in its shiny form in the game, which could be interesting for many players. You will recognize it, as seen in the following image, by its pink to purple body.

What bonuses are there? Apart from the spawns and increased shiny chance, the Community Day has even more bonuses in store for you:
- Incense and lures each last for 3 hours
- 3x XP when catching Pokémon
- A surprise when you take snapshots during the Community Day
- Event attacks “Powdersnow” (fast attack) and “Ice Spear” (charged attack) when you evolve Seemops into Walraisa from Seejong during the event or up to 2 hours afterward
Special bonuses in the in-game shop: The in-game shop also has one or two special offers for the Community Day:
- Ticket for the special research “The Spheal Deal” for Seemops for 1 Euro
- Free event box with 30 Ultra Balls
- Community Day box with 50 Ultra Balls, 5 Super Incubators, 5 Lucky Eggs, and a Premium Charge TM for 1,280 Poké Coins
