In Pokémon GO is today, on April 29, 2023, the Community Day Classic featuring Slakoth. We take a look at the content, bonuses, and what to keep in mind.
What kind of event is this? The Community Day Classic works similarly to the “regular” Community Day, where a specific Pokémon is highlighted for several hours.
The “Classic” variant always brings a Pokémon that has already had a regular Community Day. Players who missed it or started playing Pokémon GO later can secure it, including its Shiny version.
In April 2023, it is the Pokémon Slakoth. And for players who do not yet have a strong specimen, this event should be worthwhile.

When? Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 14:00 to 17:00 local time
Pokémon of the Day: Slakoth spawns almost everywhere in the wild
Exclusive Attack: The Fast Move “Ancient Power”. Evolve Vigoroth into Slaking between 14:00 and 19:00.
Bonuses:
– Triple catch Stardust
– Incense and Lures last 3 hours
– Snapshot surprises
– A special research task will also be available in the shop for 1 Euro. You can find the content of the research here.
The special Tier 4 raids that were used at previous Community Days will not be part of the Community Day Classic.
Who is the Community Day Classic with Slakoth worth it for?
Slakoth is not a rare Pokémon anymore; it appeared regularly in previous years. The original Community Day with Slakoth was already over 4 years ago, taking place in spring 2019.
It is quite possible that some players may not have caught that. Therefore, just the opportunity to have a good chance at the Shiny Slakoth is surely interesting for some.

How strong is Slakoth? This is the second good argument for the event: Slakoth’s final evolution, Slaking, is among the most useful Pokémon in the game.
Both in the Ice type and the Ground type, Slaking is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. This is especially true for the strong Shadow Slaking, which you could obtain through Rocket battles.
If you have a Shadow Slakoth, Vigoroth, or Slaking, you can collect the necessary candies on Community Day to make it really strong.
How to prepare for the Community Day Classic
The right Mega Pokémon: If you have an active suitable Mega Evolution during the event, you will receive extra candies for each Slakoth caught.
Since Slakoth is of the Ground/Ice type, the following Mega Evolutions are suitable:
- Mega-Aggron
- Mega-Swampert
- Mega-Glalie
- Mega-Abomasnow
Keep in mind: The higher the Mega level, the better bonuses you will get.
Make space: If you want to significantly increase your stock of Slakoth candies, you will need to catch many Pokémon. Prepare space in your collection for this. Use the filter function: With the search term
- “0*, 1*, 2*”
the game will only show you Pokémon that are worse than 2 stars.
What items should I bring? Here we gather useful items for the Community Day.
- Incense: This will allow you to further increase the bonus Stardust.
- Frui Berries: This way you get more candies when catching.
- Incense & Lure Module: Activate them at the start of the event to get the full three hours. Not before!
