Over the weekend, the Community Day with Velursi in Pokémon GO ran – with a duration of three hours instead of the now customary six. For many trainers, the event could not make up for this time loss despite bonuses.
What kind of event was that? The Community Day with Velursi took place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This meant trainers only had three hours instead of six to stock up on Velursi candies and hunt for Shinies – just like before.
The decision to scale back the Community Day to this time window was announced by the developers in advance. This already led to much discussion among trainers.
In return, the Velursi Community Day was supposed to score with bonuses like triple catch XP and even quadruple XP if you were near a particularly heavily used lure module.
Additionally, there were walking challenges that rewarded you with extra rewards per kilometer, double catch candies, and improved chances for Velursi XL candies.
Now the Community Day with Velursi is over. How did trainers perceive it?
“2:00 PM means: I have to take a break for PoGo”
How players reacted: In the Pokémon GO subreddit “The Silph Road,” trainers are currently discussing the past day with Velursi.
Among other things, the many bonuses are praised, which made the day quite interesting – especially since you could also secure a new monster. However, most reactions focus on the shortened time. Many apparently could not take full advantage of the good bonuses as they had wished.
- “The return to a 3-hour Community Day is really frustrating and only harms the community,” writes user “TheMassonator” (via reddit): I am an absolute casual player, and long Community Days were so much easier to find time for. Really a shame, and I hope they return to longer days instead.
- “I missed it. I could have played at least a bit between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. 0/10 C-Day; all the little fluff doesn’t matter if you can’t play,” finds user “dondon151.”
- “I actually don’t care how long the event is, but having to play at 2 PM spoiled my fun,” writes another user (via reddit): “I have always been a player who plays in the morning at 11 AM. I catch my Shinies, have lunch, and then continue my day as usual. 2 PM means I have to make a break for PoGo in the middle of the day, so I only played for 1 hour to get the two Shinies I wanted. I only got one.”
- “Overall, it felt like a boring event to me because I couldn’t participate within the hours Niantic prescribed,” writes user “Kerby” (via reddit): “My wallet thanks me because I ended up not spending 5 dollars in the game like I normally do on Community Days.”
It is noticeable: Those who were able to play for the three hours apparently had some fun at the Community Day. However, the 6-hour window allowed for a better distribution of gameplay throughout the day, rather than being “forced” into a shorter window to take advantage of bonuses and spawns.
What do you think about the topic? Did you participate in the Community Day, did you enjoy it? Or did you have to sit this one out – maybe also because of the time? Tell us in the comments!
