In Pokémon GO since October 5, 2022, the Development Event is underway, bringing you a new Collector Challenge. We at MeinMMO have looked at what tasks and rewards await you and how you can complete the challenge.
What tasks are involved? With the start of the “Stars of Development” event, a new Collector Challenge will be available to you. In this challenge, you will be shown various monsters that you need to collect to complete the research.
Similar to a limited-time research, the challenge will be time-limited and can thus only be worked on during the event period. We have summarized what content you can expect and how you can easily solve the tasks below.
When does the Development Event run? The “Stars of Development” event runs from October 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time until October 11, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
All content of the Collector Challenge
Where can you find the research? The Collector Challenge will automatically be unlocked for you when the event starts and can then be found in the “Today” view. You can complete it by October 11. Also, do not forget to collect your rewards by the end of the Development Event, or you will lose them.
This is what to expect: There will be a total of four different Collector Challenges. Unlike what you might know from past research of this kind, this time it will not solely be about catching Pokémon. In line with the theme of the event, you will need to evolve a series of Pokémon.
With the help of the overview from Leekduck, we have summarized all tasks and rewards for you below. Additionally, we will explain what you should pay attention to during the respective evolutions.
Stars of Development: Eevee Challenge
This is what you need to do: In the first Collector Challenge, everything revolves around the small Normal-type Pokémon Eevee. You need to evolve it into the following monsters:
- Vaporeon
- Jolteon
- Flareon
Reward: Once you have completed this challenge, you will receive the following evolution items: 1x Upgrade and 1x Metal Coat.
What do you need to consider? Eevee has a total of 8 different evolutions. To perform one of these, you need to invest 25 Eevee candies. You do not need an evolution item for Eevee.
The evolution of the three required monsters from Eevee usually happens randomly. You may be lucky and get the right specimens directly, but it may also happen that you need to evolve multiple Eevees to complete this research.

Stars of Development: Trade Challenge
This is what you need to do: In the second challenge, it is also about evolving monsters, but you should trade the required Pokémon with a friend before evolving them. You need the following Pokémon to solve the research:
- Gengar
- Alakazam
Reward: Once you have completed this challenge, you will receive the following evolution items: 1x Dragon Scale, 1x Sun Stone, and 1x King’s Rock.
What do you need to consider? To solve this task, you should trade Haunter and Kadabra, the two pre-evolutions of the required Pokémon, with a friend. These belong to the so-called trade evolutions in the game. Once you have traded them, you can evolve them for free. Alternatively, 100 candies must be used for each evolution.
Stars of Development: Sinnoh Challenge
This is what you need to do: In the third challenge, you are again required to evolve Pokémon. You need the following:
- Rhyperior
- Electivire
- Gallade
- Drifblim
Reward: Once you have completed this challenge, you will receive the following evolution items: 4x Sinnoh Stone.
What do you need to consider? Even if you may find one or the other of these monsters in the wild or in raids in the coming days, you still need to evolve them. Just catching them does not complete the task. So keep an eye out for Rhyhorn, Swablu, Trapinch, and Drifloon in the wild and evolve them using 25 candies each.
You do not need an evolution item for this. If you want to evolve the Pokémon one more time independent of this task, you will need to use a Sinnoh Stone additionally. You will receive this when you complete this challenge.

Stars of Development: Unova Challenge
This is what you need to do: In the fourth and final challenge, everything is also about developing. The following monsters are required:
- Emolga
- Chandelure
Reward: Once you have completed this challenge, you will receive the following evolution items: 2x Unova Stone.
What do you need to consider? Just like in the Sinnoh Challenge, you also need to evolve the pre-evolutions of these monsters accordingly. You will find Zapdos and Litwick in the wild during the event.
For the evolution, you only need 25 candies. To evolve Emolga and Chandelure one more time, you then need an Unova Stone additionally. You will get this as a reward when you complete the challenge. However, using it is not required to complete the task.
