Pokémon GO has announced a collaboration with the Pokémon trading card game. A special Pokémon card for the AR game will be available for you to secure.
This has been announced: As part of the 25th anniversary of the trading card game and the 5th anniversary of Pokémon GO, a collaboration will take place.
So you will be able to draw a Pokémon card from Professor Willow in the summer of 2021. The appearance of the card is set to be revealed in May.

What it means for you: The special Pokémon card from Professor Willow is expected to be released worldwide and available where Pokémon cards are generally found.
This is only the first step of the collaboration. More things are to follow, but there is no specific information on that yet.
Can we expect something in Pokémon GO? Definitely! Niantic has already collaborated multiple times with other Pokémon games. Each collaboration has also had an event in the game that you could take advantage of. This was the case, for example, with Let’s GO, Pikachu/Eevee or the latest Pokémon game Sword & Shield.
So you can expect that there will be an event in Pokémon GO when the exclusive Pokémon card is released. However, this is not confirmed.
