In Pokémon GO there is now the limited research “Winter Wishes”. There you can choose a bonus that brings you slightly modified tasks – depending on the path.
What kind of research is this? The limited research “Winter Wishes” takes place within the “Winter Holidays” event.
It has been available in the “Today” overview of Pokémon GO since December 18, 2023, and will remain until December 31, 8:00 PM. At that point, the second part of the Winter Holidays event ends.
Here’s the special part: in the second step of the research, you can choose a path. This will give you a bonus for the duration of “Winter Wishes”.
You can choose from the following paths:
- The “Catching Pokémon” bonus. If you choose this, you will receive double XP for catching Pokémon until December 31, 2023.
- The “Collecting Stardust” bonus. This will give you double stardust when catching until December 31, 2023.
Depending on your decision, you will also receive slightly adjusted research paths. We summarize these for you here.
Winter Wishes – Step 1/2
Here you only need to complete three small tasks.

Stage reward: After completing the page, you will receive 500 stardust and 500 XP. You will also now have the option to choose your bonus.
Winter Wishes – “Catching Pokémon” path for more XP
If you have chosen this path, you will now receive double catch XP until the end of the event period. Also, the following tasks and rewards:

Winter Wishes – “Collecting Stardust” path for more Stardust
On this path, you receive the bonus for double catch stardust. This also applies until the end of the event.

Overall, the two research paths differ little in terms of tasks and rewards. In the end, it mainly comes down to what you need more urgently: more XP, because you are working on leveling up, or more stardust to upgrade your Pokémon.
