A Pokémon GO update marks the Pokémon of cheaters with a line. For a short time, the cheaters were able to circumvent the measure, but Niantic followed up.
Anyone who gets a monster in Pokémon GO using third-party software will eventually be recognized by the game as a cheater. The Pokémon that were caught through unfair means will then be displayed in the collection with a red line – hackers can therefore hardly boast with their collection.
For a short time, this red line could be hidden again with a trick. But Niantic is thwarting the cheaters’ plans.
Workaround for Cheat Marking – Short Pleasure
A few days ago, Niantic announced that Pokémon from cheaters will now be displayed with a red marking in the game. In addition to the marking in the Pokémon collection, the monsters will also not behave as expected. This applies to Pokémon that were caught using third-party software that bypasses normal gameplay.

However, it didn’t take long for the owners of the affected cheat accounts to find a way around these markings. To do this, you simply had to develop the corresponding Pokémon and the red line disappeared. On Twitter, users showed that the trick with the development actually works:
Apparently, this was just a small security loophole that Niantic did not take into account in its latest measure against cheaters. Shortly after it became known how to bypass the marking, the developers intervened and fixed this trick.
Cheater Pokémon can no longer be developed
On Reddit, a user showed that Niantic quickly and effectively implemented a block for the “development trick”. The affected Pokémon can now no longer be developed, as the following screenshot shows:
Users on Reddit are pleased that Niantic intervened so quickly and eliminated the workaround. Most trainers find cheaters in Pokémon GO to be a thorn in their side, which is why such actions by the developers are generally well received in the community and evoke schadenfreude.
