In Pokémon GO the special research “A Cosmic Companion” has been active for several months. Recently, the tasks involving the development of Cosmog and Cosmoem have caused issues. Now, the tasks are no longer available after many trainers had already developed their Cosmog for it.
What kind of task is this? In the special research A Cosmic Companion, you will be required to develop your Cosmog and later Cosmoem in chapters 5 and 9. At this point, you can own a maximum of one of these specimens. Therefore, some trainers wanted to wait and prefer to keep their Cosmog and Cosmoem.
However, the tasks have now been changed and the development is no longer necessary.
Niantic changes chapters 5 and 9 of Cosmic Companion
What’s new: The third task in chapter 5 of Cosmic Companion was “Develop a Cosmog”. Now, you only need to develop any Psychic-type Pokémon for the task.
In chapter 9, the only task was “Develop a Cosmoem”. Now, the task simply states to develop any Psychic-type Pokémon. “Develop a Psychic-type Pokémon” is now the task listed.
We tried it out and can confirm that developing a Psychic-type Pokémon solves the task. Nevertheless, Rhi tells us after completing the task: “Un… unbelievable! Cosmoem has developed!” and how much he enjoys witnessing such a sight.
Why is there the change? In recent weeks, there have been ongoing problems with the tasks. Sometimes, Cosmog or Cosmoem could not even be developed. Parts of the completed developments did not count towards the research.
The Niantic support had to help many players on Twitter who were simply stuck on the tasks. Just on December 1, the support tweeted that they had solved the problem with Cosmog and Cosmoem that could not evolve (via Twitter). Now, on December 3, players noticed that the tasks of the research had been adjusted.
What do the trainers say? Some players are disappointed because they now had to develop their only Cosmog or Cosmoem to progress in the research, while other players do not have to do this anymore (via reddit). Trainers write, “How can they do this after I developed mine!” or “I’m glad I never developed mine. I wanted to wait until I got another Cosmog.” Others are not really affected by the change and explain that they only need it for their Pokédex and don’t really care that the research has now changed.
Currently, there are no other ways to obtain a Cosmog apart from this research. Accordingly, players are careful with their only specimen.
However, Niantic has already revealed that there will be more opportunities to obtain Cosmog in the future.
