On August 13, the Community Day featuring Galarian Zigzagoon is taking place in Pokémon GO. The group bonus that should give you additional encounters with Garbodor has now been changed.
What is this bonus? Since some Community Days, Niantic has been rewarding you for playing together in groups at a PokéStop. You can unlock additional bonuses by catching enough Pokémon at one location.
Previously, you should have been rewarded with additional Garbodor encounters during the Zigzagoon Community Day. However, the bonus has now been changed to more Stardust. Is this better or worse?
New Stardust Bonus on Community Day
What has changed: The original group bonus was “If you catch enough Pokémon at a PokéStop with a Lure Module, wild Galarian Garbodor will appear near the stop.” In the new version of the blog post, Niantic writes:
“If enough Pokémon are caught at a PokéStop with a Lure Module, the 3x catch Stardust for trainers near this PokéStop will be increased to 4x for 30 minutes.” However, this bonus does not stack with the existing 3x bonus but replaces it for 30 minutes.

Is this good or bad? On social networks, trainers discuss the changes and note what has changed in detail. “For this Community Day, where there is a Stardust bonus, it was better to have a Stage 2 Pokémon. Because they give more Stardust,” explains user mazumbado on reddit. Zigzagoon with a fourfold bonus gives 400 Stardust per catch. Garbodor with a threefold bonus, on the other hand, gives 900 Stardust, writes the trainer.
However, it is unclear how the catch rates have changed. Trainers speculate that it might take more time to catch a Garbodor.
On the other hand, trainers are happy to receive more encounters with Galarian Zigzagoon and thus have more chances to catch shinies. “I prefer more shiny checks than Stardust,” writes user Handful4sure on reddit.
