In Pokémon GO, the raid times have been adjusted. Raids now last for 90 minutes and raid eggs only take 15 minutes to hatch.
What has changed? Currently, the Johto Journey event is taking place in Pokémon GO. Players can celebrate the event for a week and encounter many new raid bosses.
Now, the raid times have been tweaked. According to players on Reddit, the duration that eggs float above gyms has been reduced to 15 minutes. After hatching, the raids last for 90 minutes.
Reactions to the Changes
What do the players say? In the Subreddit of the trainer community TheSilphRoad, a thread is currently very popular, discussing the new raid times. One player writes, “Sometimes it feels like The Silph Road is Niantic’s only source for quality control.”
What did the players demand? A day earlier, a post in this Subreddit was particularly supported. A player wrote, “Last year, there were 15-minute raid eggs and 90-minute raids during the week with the legendary birds. Niantic should do the same for the beasts and Deoxys.”
The reason given was that it would be a “nightmare” if one wanted to do multiple Level 5 raids during an event. The duration of the raids would simply be too short.
With this post on Reddit, the intention was to alert Niantic at the last minute about how important the extended raid times and shortened egg times are, and that they should also be utilized in the new event.
User TrainerChops explains why he thinks the change is good: “So we can see faster which of the 3 legendary beasts hatches from the egg, instead of waiting an hour for it.”
What are the problems? This change is not well received by all trainers. The issue with the long boss fights is that gyms are unavailable for longer periods. Some players wish for shorter times during uninteresting raids so that they can use the gyms faster again.
Other players express the desire for the lobby times to finally be shortened and that as a solo player, one should not have to wait so long to start.
What do you think of the new raid times? The next raid hours this month are already known:
